Noosa better prepared to weather the storm Get Ready Noosa packs and Storm season video for young people. Noosa visitor accommodation managers will be even better prepared in the event of a natural disaster following the launch of new Get Ready Noosa packs last Friday. The Get Ready Noosa packs contain important information, advice and contact details to assist managers of resorts, hotels, motels, caravan parks and backpacker hostels to prepare their businesses before a disaster strikes. Also launched on the day was an awareness video for young people on how to prepare for, and survive, a disaster situation. Noosa Flexible Learning Centre students, LMOX Design Studio and ProDocs have teamed up to produce an awareness video for young people on how to prepare for, and survive, a disaster situation. The video will be used in local schools and by community groups. Deputy Mayor Bob Abbot, chair of Council’s Local Disaster Management Group, said it was important for Noosa to be well prepared to handle natural disasters. “When it comes to severe weather events, Queensland gets more than its fair share, and Noosa is likely to experience summer storms and east coast lows each year,” Cr Abbot said. “It’s unfortunate, but severe weather often coincides with peak holiday periods such as the Christmas school holidays and Easter, so it’s especially important that managers of visitor accommodation are well-prepared for a disaster.” Special thanks to these talented people who created this video.
