Normally we would love to spend Record Store Day on local land, capitalizing on one of many vinyl deals.. (Stop by ZZZ for us). But this April 19th, Maxilla Blue will be traveling to MoonDog Music to rock a Record Day in-store performance in Dubuque, IA, and we’re just as hyped. In 2010, we dropped our 2nd Maxilla album which was our third overall collaborative work, which happened to also be our first full length vinyl LP as a crew. At that time, we packed the truck up with vinyl and crisscrossed the Midwest, taking every opportunity between shows to stop in to local vinyl stores to give them a complementary LP, with a simple request. “If you like what you hear, then carry and sell what you hear……please.” I believe we came across both Ragged Records and MoonDog Music on the same expedition, after playing a show in Rock Island, Illinois or Wisconsin. The dude at the counter looked like he was not going for any bullshit, and he definitely knew his sh*t as far as hiphop.. Somehow, we got him to take some vinyl and CD’s anyway…. When we were later contacted by the store to restock with both CD’s and vinyl of the new album, and to come rock on Record Store day, the rest is as it appears. See ya’ll on the 19th, one week before Super Fresh Culture Fest.
