Active surface fire with group tree torching and spotting 1/4 of a mile. CA-MEU Lodge Complex: 3,400 acres, 15% contained. The inversion layer remained over the fire the entire day. Fire activity was minimal with creeping and smoldering. ---------------------------------------------- 08/04/2014 ~ 6:15 p.m. CA-LMU Day Fire: 13,047 acres, 60% contained. Fire behavior has moderated. CA-KNF Log Fire: 1,460 acres, 0% contained. Moderate intensity surface fire, short crown runs and spotting. CA-LNF Bald Fire: 39,850 acres, 20% contained. Fire behavior moderated today with higher humidities and lower temperatures. CA-KNF Little Deer: 5,279 acres, 54% contained. Highway 97 was closed the entire reporting period and remains closed. High clouds and smoke shaded the fire today and fire activity diminished. Fire behavior includes rapid rates of spread, group tree torching and long range spotting. CA-KNF Beaver Fire: 11,120 acres, 2% contained. Fire has been withdrawn from the July Complex but will continue to be managed in Unified Command between USFS and CAL FIRE. CA-SHF Coffee Fire: 4,487 acres, 5% contained. Fire continued to back overnight. CA-MEU Lodge Complex: 2,900 acres, 15% contained. Firing operations will be completed this moring. CA-KNF July Complex: 4,315 acres, 0% contained. Moderate intensity surface fire, roll out and consumption of unburned fuel. CA-KNF Little Deer: 4,700 acres, 43% contained. Fire remained active through the evening and into the night. Spotting and some group tree torching was observed. CA-KNF Beaver Fire: 10,516 acres, 2% contained. Fire behavior overnight was backing with some group tree torching. CA-LNF Eiler Fire: 25,900 acres, 0% contained. Fire continues to spread northward. Evacuations in effect for Cassel, Johnson Park and Hat Creek; advisory evacuations in effect for Burney. CA-LNF Bald Fire: 39,850 acres, 5% contained. Fire behavior moderated overnight due to better RH recovery. CA-LMU Day Fire: 12,975 acres, 55% contained. Fire behavior has moderated, although occasional torching and spotting continues. ------------------------------------------- 08/03/2014 ~ 6:30 p.m. CA-LNF Bald Fire: 39,600 acres, 5% contained. Fire continued to exhibit rapid rates of spread. CA-SHF Coffee Fire: 3,400 acres, 5% contained. Smokejumpers were successful in securing line around Hodges Cabin. Fire continues to spread with short intense uphill runs resulting from rollout. CA-KNF July Complex: 4,315 acres, 0% contained. The Log Fire has gone into unified command with CAL FIRE and is being removed from this complex and will be reported separately. The SHF-Rays fire has been added to this complex; Whites Fire and Leef Fire remain in the complex. CA-MEU Lodge Complex: 2,700 acres, 10% contained. Firing operations were completed this morning connecting both fires in the complex. The spot fire on the east side of the Eel River is located on a south slope and was active this afternoon. Moderate fire behavior was observed for most of the day. ------------------------------------------- 08/03/2014 ~ 6:15 p.m. CA-LMU Day Fire: 12,850 acres, 45% contained. Fire behavior has moderated, although occasional torching and spotting continues. ------------------------------------------- 08/03/2014 ~ 6:00 p.m. CA-LNF Eiler Fire: 25,900 acres, 0% contained. Fire continues to spread northward. Evacuations in effect for Cassel, Johnson Park and Hat Creek; advisory evacuations in effect for Burney. CAL FIRE IMT Team 5 (Smith) will go into unified command with NorCal Team 1 at 1800 hours. CA-KNF Little Deer: 4,479 acres, 38% contained. Fire behavior remains active with short range spotting but shading from the smoke and increases in relative humidity has moderated fire behavior. The fire has transitioned command to CAL FIRE Incident Commander Flores today at 1800 hours. ------------------------------------------- 08/03/2014 ~ 5:45 p.m. SOCAL IMT2 Team 3 (Garwood) is being staged at McClellan Training Center. National Weather Service - Sacramento has issued a Red Flag Warning for Monday from 1100 hours until 2200 hours for thunderstorms and periods of abundant lightning. Thunderstorm activity could complicate current firefighting efforts. The wind shifted last evening and the fire changed directions, burning up to and along Highway 97 forcing closure of the Highway within the fire area. Fire continues to exhibit active fire behavior with group torching causing spotting problems. CA-KNF July Complex: 4,175 acres, 0% contained. Fire behavior moderated overnight, with smoldering and creeping. Steep terrain and snags are creating access problems. Heavy smoke in the area is limiting aerial support and reconnaissance. CA-MEU Lodge Complex: 2,200 acres, 10% contained. The fire has spotted across the Eel River and is well established on the east side. Numerous other spot fires were discovered after the inversion lifted yesterday afternoon. Firing operations began on the southwestern portion of the fire last evening and will continue this morning. The western contingency line has been pushed westward 3 miles. The eastern contingency line has now become the new containment line. CA-SHF Coffee Fire: 2,000 acres, 5% contained. Rollout, numerous snags and steep slopes are hampering containment efforts. CA IMT1 Team 3 assumed command of the fire at 0600 this morning. CA-KNF Beaver Fire: 7,001 acres, 1% contained. The fire made significant runs late afternoon and evening, tripling in size to the south and east, forming pyrocumulus under the influence of the unstable atmosphere. Long range spotting, frequent group torching and short crown runs upslope has allowed the fire to become well established. Evacuation advisories have been issued for the Highway 96 corridor in the area of Beaver Creek. --------------------------------------------------- 08/03/2014 ~ 7:15 a.m. OR-ODF Beaver Complex: 32,064 acres, 10% contained. The Oregon Gulch fire in this complex has burned 22,835 acres in Oregon and 9,109 acres in California. The fire made intense plume dominated fire runs throughout the afternoon, with mid range spotting and substantial perimeter growth. Mandatory evacuations are in effect for the Copco area and campgrounds along the Klamath River. CA-LMU Day Fire: 12,850 acres, 25% contained. Fire continues to move northeast under a southwest wind flow. Winds are increasing fire intensity and heavy fuels and slash accumulations are hampering containment efforts. CA-LNF Eiler Fire: 22,788 acres, 0% contained. The fire made a significant run to the north yesterday afternoon and evening exhibiting extreme fire behavior with group torching and spotting 1/2 mile ahead. The fire is now 4 miles south of Burney. Fire behavior moderated somewhat overnight. CA-LNF Bald Fire: 34,832 acres, 5% contained. Fire spread is primarily torching and spotting in the morning, and transitioning to more extreme fire behavior in the afternoon hours. Fire remained active through evening hours. Evacuations remain in effect for the Little Valley Road area and the Burlington-Santa Fe rail line remains closed to due the fire threat. --------------------------------------------------- 08/02/2014 ~ 7:00 p.m. CA-KNF July Complex: 4,175 acres, 0% contained. Very active surface fire with single tree and group torching and spotting 1/4 mile ahead. Heavy smoke is limiting aerial support and reconnaissance. Access is limited for resources to access the fires. -------------------------------------------------- 08/02/2014 ~ 6:30 p.m. CA-MEU Lodge Complex: 1,800 acres, 10% contained. Fire spread was low intensity under the smoke inversion. Crews were unable to fly to remote locations of the fire until the inversion lifted early afternoon. Increased fire activity with torching and occasional crown runs were observed. A spot fire was discovered across the Eel River during crew shuttles. Steep terrain continues to hamper containment of the fire. CA-KNF Beaver Fire: 2,400 acres, 5% contained. Fire was under an inversion until 1300 hours. Fire made significant runs to the north east after the inversion lifted, forming a pyrocumulus smoke column. Fire is well established on the east side of Beaver Creek. ------------------------------------------------ 08/02/2014 ~ 6:15 p.m. CA-KNF Little Deer Fire: 2,950 acres, 10% contained. Fire made small crown runs and group torching, spotting 1/2 mile ahead of the fire. CAL FIRE will assume command of the fire at 0800 tomorrow. CA-LNF Bald Fire: 26,205 acres, 5% contained. Fire spread is primarily torching and spotting in the morning, transitioning to more extreme fire behavior in the afternoon. This includes group torching, rapid rates of spread and spotting up to 1/2 mile. Evacuations for Little Valley Road area remain in effect. Burlington-Santa Fe rail line remains shut down. CA-LNF Eiler Fire: 7,029 acres, 0% contained. Fire spread is primarily torching and spotting in the morning, transitioning to more extreme fire behavior in the afternoon. This includes group torching, rapid rates of spread and spotting up to 1/2 mile. Eight residences, one commercial property and 20 other minor structures destroyed. Highway 89 remains closed within the fire area. CA-SHF Coffee Fire: 1,800 acres, 5% contained. Significant growth on all flanks of fire except for the East Fork of Coffee Creek. Moderate to rapid rates of spread due to rollout, numerours snags and short range spotting. Fire is actively burning through all fuel types. Natural barriers are not completely reliable to hold fire. California IMT1 Team 3 will assume command at 0600 tomorrow. CA-LMU Day Fire: 12,700 acres, 20% contained. Afternoon southwest winds are increasing fire intensity with torching, long range spotting and substantial fire runs. Complex includes the White Fire, Log Fire and the Leef Fire. White Fire: 2,500 acres, 0% contained, rollout continued overnight with active backing. Log Fire: 350 acres, 0% contained, rollout continues to hamper containment efforts; fire is in Unified Command with CAL FIRE. Leef Fire: 17 acres, 90% contained. Minimal fire activity reported. ----------------------------------------------- 08/02/2014 ~ 7:15 a.m. CA-KNF Beaver: 1,751 acres, 5% contained. Fire spotted across Beaver Creek, doubling the fire size. The fire made significant runs to the north east late into the night. Mandatory evacuations are in effect for the Beaver Creek area. Advisory evacuations are in place along the Klamath River. CA-MEU Lodge Complex: 902 acres, 20% contained. Fire continued to spread in all directions. Steep terrain and potential for rolling debris is hampering containment efforts. CA-Eiler Fire: 6,932 acres, 0% contained. Fire is under command of NorCal Team 1 (Minton). Fire made significant sustained runs yesterday. Fire has crossed Highway 89; Highway 89 remains closed in the fire area. Evacuations remain in place. Thousand Lakes Wilderness is closed. CA-LNF Bald Fire: 17,977 acres, 5% contained. Fire is in Unified Command with CAL FIRE. Extreme fire behavior, with rapid rates of spread and long range spotting.
