Not My Front Porch Holiday Inn Express Amarillo, TX Im not sure what the temperature is outside but Ive been told that we are in for another cold snap this week-end. Im enjoying the 65* temperatures in the TX panhandle. We are 2/3 through our OK-TX Church and Prison Tour. Its been a very trip with only the promise of finishing the same way. Yesterday I toured the Clements Unit in North Amarillo with Chaplain Billington. The Clements Unit is home to 3800 inmates from all security levels. It has a neighboring unit called the Neal Unit with 1500 inmates. These are small cities within a city. Chaplain Billington took me to where a section where inmates make items for sake out of leather, metal, and wood. The quality is second to none. Im always amazed at the incredible talent and gift thats locked up in our prison systems. Some of the finest talent in the country is behind bars. Im not sure if the Lord is protecting us from the inmates or could it be Hes protecting them from us!!!! Lol. This morning Im having breakfast with Mr. Tom Mechler a board member with TDCJ. Mr. Mechler is the push behind getting programs into every prison in TX. Later today we will head back to Briscoe and Canadian. Ill speak at The River Ministries on Sunday morning.
