Not Overland but familiar to most Overlanders ......Broenicky ---Branneky Hardware .The Branneky family came from Germany in 1851 and settled on land where Union Station is now .William Branneky came to the farming community when Indians were still wandering around the river camps .Branneky married Minnie Voges and they farmed until his death in 1882 .They had eight children , one of them Charles Christian Branneky, was born on July 19, 1869 The boy was reared on the farm and educated at the nearby Junction school . When he was 17 he worked at Pattons store in Pattonville as a stock boy . he learned the business and within five years he opened his own store across the street from the Pattons .the year after he opened the store he married Catherine Klemen , they had three sons and a daughter . The store burned in 1900. A series of Brannekys operated the firm and as of 1956 Oliver and Harry were still owners and operators . A brother Walter was President of St. John Community Bank. the store has been a family owned local store for 122 years on The Rock Road and Fee Fee Rds.
