Not a day goes by that I dont miss home. What makes my home? Long beaches with miles of of stormy ocean that turns to glass, mountain tops that kiss the cloudy sky, wide open spaces, cozy rustic homes, fields if gold, Jack Frost and his blizzards that blanket the ground, fresh mountain air, the smell of gasoline and fire, boat racing, Mother Nature, freedom... All of these things are calling my name, but it is truly the people and the memories that make it home. A goodbye kiss, a hug full of tears and love, rolling on the lawn in laughter, late night stories by the fire, walks on the beach, letting go of your inhibitions and being spontaneous, staring at the stars and appreciating Gods beautiful Earth and all he has blessed you with. Home is a place that you put all of your positive energy and good thoughts into. You fortify it with your hopes and dreams so that no amount of despair can ever take away the beauty and peace that safe haven brings to you. We may not able to be there often, but when we are, it is medicine for the soul. It is a space we have created by letting ourselves be free to express and breathe. A house is just a building. Eventually they become vacant, but the people you lost arent really gone. They live in your heart, and they add to the vitality of what makes your home. May we always hold on to all the little memories and tiny details. Nothing in life deserves to go unexamined and uncherished. And remember, you can always go home, wherever youve made it.
