Not a good start to my new customers year. Yes it is the chain driven engine this is our 6th failure in the passed 12 months. Picture 1 is the culprit the tensioner oil pressure dropping off & the chain becoming slack in some cases the chain stretches or breaks. This can bend the valves & causes misfires. Picture 2 shows a bend valve along side a new valve. Picture 3 is cams locked in place with tool. Picture 4 new chain & tensioner in place with dial clock gauge setting top dead centre. This is very common on the 1.2Tfsi & 1.4Tfsi engines I think it is only a matter of time before VW & Audi return to cambelts.
