Not making the national media – wonder why – is news of a racist incident in which a police officer was abused by a mob of ‘Asians’ while trying to help a 13 year old runaway girl. PC Ben Dowling was attending Whalley New Road, Blackburn, in response to reports of a runaway 13 year old girl whose welfare parents were concerned about. Upon finding the girl, PC Dowling was surrounded by a large group of Asian men and racially abused. Tahir Hussain was handed a 12 month conditional discharge – a mere slap on the wrist – for abuse including telling PC Dowling to go “back to where you live”, after pleading guilty to racially aggravated public disorder. Another Muslim area, non-Muslims not welcome (well, unless they happen to be 13 year old girls)? Doubt you’ll be seeing this in the national media – they only tend to report on racism when it goes in a certain direction. Bet it’d be in all the tabloids had it been whites surround and abuse an Asian policeman though – and bet more than a conditional discharge would have been handed out by the court.
