Not naming names here either on the good or bad side but the most pleasant meeting I just had proves how much corruption is in my street vending biz where every event company / borough hall plays by different rules and the only thing that gets you in is if you are liked and not a threat to their cousin with a food stand at their venue. Last week I was uninvited to a town because my paperwork came in 1 hour too late. This after I left the date open a month ago and did pages of questions where you would think I was selling grenades. The place I just finalized all I had to show was my insurance...no clipboard power trips with invasive inspection, no extortion vig...they immediately knew my reputation and that was that. No entry fee, if I do good, throw something back I was told. Now see that is fair and how it should be all over. Let the independent contractors make a living! We are here for our public and know how to operate. All one has to do is Google me to see the thousands of balls I served hundreds of times in 6 years. Its all about mutual respect. Some wanna talk behind my back that I have an elitist attitude with this but the elitists are the ones colluding and excluding. Sorry I will no longer deal with hassles, I go where Im wanted and I give back. I went on 3 news shows to promote that Super Bowl feast last year, no other vendor did that. Fighting to get in a gig is not worth it I found out first hand...plenty of locations around. #Meatballin
