Not only does the state of Texas lead the country in Executions, with many so called guilty people interestingly found to be innocent, but you then add prosecutors, judges etc. during trials looking the other way when evidence should have been introduced and was not and it makes them look even worse. Now apparently their legislature doesnt even know how to make laws that make sense nor how to correct them. (see CNN below) If you live in Texas, you should be ashamed of many of your so called politicians and prosecutors who probably think sharia law is just and deserved also. Sharia law is perhaps the worst thing on this planet at this time. Politicians should be hired to make your state better, not worse! Here are a few things about Texas that are also interesting. Texas appellate judges are elected to office and hence serve according to the pleasure of the public. Not surprisingly, they require a record of toughness on criminals in order to win re-election. Also, there are many indications that elected appellate judges generally are of a lesser quality than their appointed counterparts in other states. Texas does not have a public defender system for indigent defendants, and instead relies upon court-appointed lawyers who likely do not have experience in capital murder defenses or appeals. Incompetent defenses in capital murder cases are legion in Texas, and that, even in a death penalty appeal, bad lawyering is hard to prove. One decision, which turned down a defendants habeas appeal due to bad lawyering, concluded that [t]he Constitution does not say that the lawyer has to be awake during trial proceedings. Until the early 1990s, Texas did not permit jurors to adequately consider mitigating evidence in the sentencing phase of a trial.
