Not quite sure if this is on the mark or not. Yes its certainly true that people make paternalistic assumptions about Africa (as well as other regions in the developing world), and they need to be educated. People cant learn to think better though, unless theyre encouraged to do so. Too much emphasis on what not to do, too much personal calling out, isnt going to help anyone. This is an issue I have with the discourse in articles surrounding these kinds of issues; the points may be valid, but the tone is so condescending and know-it-all-ish that its impossible to stomach. All of that said, the video is worth watching, its the article that I took some issue with.
