Not since Round 16 on 7th February 2009 when former Rabbit Danny Maxwell belted his way too 100 has a Rabbitoh notch up a century wearing the all mighty green. Thats around 300 matches, 2500+ opportunities and not until saturday had one Rabbitoh stood tall and delivered. Read on too find out more................ A Grade faced a sharp and undefeated Windsor Castle Stallions side at the neutral ground of Bowthorne. After losing the toss it was a very tough start before the first wicket fell with a 99 run partnership from former Rabbit Josh McInnes. Tim Campbell 3/48 (7) & M.Parish 2/58 (8) catered for half the wickets and nearly half the runs as Windsor pilled on 8/240(40). With heads betwern their paws a mountain was needed to be climbed to win this match. Birthday boy Matt Parish (0) started his season with a first ball duck and when the scorebook read 4/52 trouble was an understatement. Than comes Brendan Lloyd (62) & Luke Glendenning (31) to the rescue as they worked the gaps and ticked along the score. A late flurry from Brendan Hourigan (21) & Jason Bower (15*) wasnt enough with the final score reading 9/219 (40). On the hallow synthetic of Beryl Humble the game was played out in a much different fashion as B Grade welcomed Tarro Hotel for the days fixture. Skipper David Rathborne won the toss and soon had his bowlers working their magic. All 5 bowlers claimed a wicket with Eden Janissen, A.Kelly & G.Palmer taking 2 wickets each and T.Burtons 1/28 (7) claiming best economy. If your any good at maths you would of only counted 4 bowlers named so far and thats because its a little hard to say but J.Swan stole the bowling show with his 3/32(5) leaving Tarro 10/183 (34). C.Black & E.Janissen (24) opened up and put on an 86 run partnership before Ed was caught down the ground. J.Hanlon (34*) joined C.Black (118*) in what was a match winning 100 run partnership. Cal hit 23 4s from his 86 ball innings that lasted 87 minutes and included him facing the first & last ball. As mentioned in Saturdays post Cal had his century up by drinks and had full control of the game as he hit the winning runs. B Grade cruised home to win by 9 wickets with the scorecard reading 1/186(27). D Grade had a late ground change to the picturesk Chinamans Hollow where they faced off against Kurri Kookaburras. After losing the toss and being sent into bat the top order failed to capitalize before Mitchell Thompson (50*retired) come to the rescue. S.Hair (17*) batted well before running out of partners with the scorebook reading 10/106(28). Jnr Jordan Murphy 3/33 (5) stood out with the ball showing his old man how its done. With not many runs to defend tight bowling was needed and M.Harvey 0/12 (5) & M.Thompson 0/14 (4) did just that but it wasnt enough as Kurri totalled 6/119 (23.3). Mr Rabbits player of the week goes to a young chap who scored more in 1 innings than his previous 2 highest scores and that young chap is Cal Black for his match winning 118*.
