Not-so-guilty pleasure confession time. The Everything in Transit album by Jacks Mannequin is one of those landmark pieces of my youth that never really withered away. I still soak in its entirety every. single. time. I am on an airplane, and beloved lines from bone-chillingly sappy tracks like The Mixed Tape, Bruised, and Dark Blue still give me that sugary, swelling, rush in my chest that they always have. Factor in that those tender emotive lyrics are draped over a complex bed of piano-laden pop rock, and its no wonder that I am so hopelessly snared... Anyway, this album turns 10 years old this year, so to celebrate, I aspire to take at least four plane rides, and Ill belt it in the shower in the meantime.
