Not the best defense, but I agree with it. Ive been defending my own practice of lecturing for a while - even in seminars, which I call French seminars (this is me trying to do something, now you react and do your part) - by explaining that I teach by example how to read text, or simply that really, I cant see how I could get students to understand how to learn about the parliamentary system or Quebec politics by talking about it or about a text.
