Not today, but on Sunday afternoon at the Fina World 3K Open Water - TopicsExpress

Not today, but on Sunday afternoon at the Fina World 3K Open Water championships in Montreal. This swim took place exactly 6.5 months from the day of the stroke that paralyzed my left leg from the hip down. With great support and encouragement from my wife, excellent medical treatment and solid physical therapy, most of the function has returned to the leg. The swim had its share of fear and demons (for me and my wife...bless her for letting me swim when she had such concern) that needed to be conquered. Special thanks to Christie, David and Coach Erika whose quick action on the day of the stoke helped minimize the damage and keep me as well as one could be under the circumstances. And, thanks to you, the bright and happy people of DYST who served as a joyful source of enthusiasm and hope on the road back. Your posts made me smile and gave me energy on the down days, and your triumphs flamed my will to compete on the good days. Finally, despite the time lost in fighting those demons during the swim, I squeaked to the finish under the cut off time and, surprise, surprise, I was not last in my age group ;-) . I feel very blessed!
