Note 9 Some people also fear the horrors of communism would come back and the scar which it left on the heart of many Ethiopians along with it. Communism being an alien concept that it is and totally unfit to the mode of production and societal structure that existed at the time was introduced to Ethiopia by a group of people whose only aim was to purge the country of the old regime and assume power. Hence , it didn’t liberate the individual to the realm of freethinking entity but only replaced an old dogmatic and absolutist absolutism with another more dogmatic and terrifying absolutism. The way communism tackled religion in Ethiopia was fatal to itself you can‘t stand up one night and abolish a system that existed for hundreds of years in a single televised program or a piece of legislation, it would obviously be counter –productive. People now think the horrors of the communist regime Dergue was an evil fate they brought on themselves because they denied God and accepted dialectical materialism instead .Many men of that generation are now in their 50’s and 60’s and almost all have gone back to the religion they abandoned or another religion which they think is a true path to the divine .
