It was our first-ever juried show at the Art Emporium of Port Stanley - the 1, 2 or 3 Square Foot Show! Christine Welch of the London Promenade Orchestra enchanted art patrons and artists alike with her deft keyboard playing. There were 100+ imaginative paintings, photographs, sketches, glassworks, sculptures and multi-media pieces that were submitted by a good number of very talented artisans. But nothing was more intriguing, more enlightening or more INSPIRING than listening to OSA juror Cathy Groulx, who drove down from Woodstock to personally engage the award-winning artisans and critique their artworks at our opening reception. Tom Scanlan is an award-winning woodcarver, and he imaginatively incorporated both wood and copper into his wonder-full Ruby-Throated Hummingbird. And Cathy Groulx was charmed by both Toms artistic excellence and his careful attention to detail in recreating the hummingbirds surroundings, and so awarded him Best In Show honours. This video clip features Cathys critique of Toms piece, followed by a delightful, lighthearted exchange between Cathy and Tom. Now listen up, yall: The 1, 2 or 3 Square Foot Show runs until November 17th, which means that this is the shows final weekend..... So come on down! The Art Emporium is currently open from 11AM-5PM, Thursday-Monday, and is located at 177 Main Street in downtown Port Stanley.
