Notes From the Underground: Ebola edition. I am struck by the lax - TopicsExpress

Notes From the Underground: Ebola edition. I am struck by the lax protocols at Presby and even Nancy Snidermans behavior at NBC as no one seems to take isolation seriously. One cause is the breakdown in medical leadership and accountability that were inherent in my training. Doctors ran units and the head MD directed all- other MDs, nurses and even the CEO. Now, in times of political correctness, no one is in charge! Ive seen grown men shake and sweet at M&M conferences and been ripped for errors in protocol and publicly humiliated in front of my peers. It made be a better doctor and improved care. Now, if you upset a nurse of intern you are sent to anger management or sensitivity training and the patients suffer. Next year marks 40 years in medicine for me and the changes are frightening. With CEOs and politicians in charge, there is no accountability, just political correctness, participant ribbons, sicker patients and out of control epidemics! (this official qualifies as an old farts rant!)
