Notes from my Desk: Do you have a hero? Someone either in - TopicsExpress

Notes from my Desk: Do you have a hero? Someone either in the past or present who you look up tp and admire? Someone who has done great exploits or who has great fame? This morning, I want to introduce you to one of my heroes. He is a man who was faithful to God and waited many years for the promised blessing of God to be revealed. When no one else would stand with him, he stood with only one other, and made a rallying cry to certain victory. Abandoned by all, he was forced to watch millions perish for their unbelief, until finally, his waiting was over, and he could lay claim to the promise of God. His claim on the promise of God was not simple. It was not simply laying claim God said I could have it and so it was his. He stands in stark contrast to those who would hold to a “name it and claim it” assurance in prayer. Rather, knowing that God had given it to him, he was willing to go and war for his promised possession. I love the next adventure of this man, for I presently have two young daughters who will one day be looking for a man of God to marry. Having set an example for his daughter, this man determines how to choose a son-in-law. His daughter will marry a man, not who proclaims fidelity to God, but who demonstrates his passion for the obedience required to receive the promises of God. Yet, this man’s story does not end here, for later we find that a portion of his promise is used not by him, but by the entire nation. His inheritance will become a city of refuge. Do you know who my hero is? He is a man by the name of Caleb, who challenges me that I need to continue to live by faith. Not simply day by day, but year by year. Come join us tomorrow morning as we travel back in time and see a man who sets an example of fidelity to God.
