Nothing I have read so far excites me about Windows 9. Its first - TopicsExpress

Nothing I have read so far excites me about Windows 9. Its first beta version supposedly will be released end of this month for brave souls to play with & test. Oh, I have installed beta versions of several operating systems over the years, but not about to get involved with that again! Most articles concede Windows 9 is more about connecting with this Cloud, and connecting to cell phones and other gadgets. No, my computer is not going there! No way. What one (disturbing) article suggested is Microsoft is not going to be continuing free updates like it did in the past, but charging something like $20 twice a year for updated releases (I assume critical & security fixes will still be regular free updates). That article also suggests Windows 9 is the last major operating system update. After that it will be strictly those incremental update packs you can purchase periodically for newer features. I tend to think Microsoft is testing the public with rumors, to see what its client base will accept, and what it will not... I dont plan to update, unless there is a clear advantage for me in it. There was no major advantage to me since XP. When my hardware was aged to where it made sense to replace it, and support for XP was vanishing, it was time. Didnt upgrade my XP System just bought one with 8.1 installed on it. I think the majority of Americans have a similar outlook. Give me a valid reason, Im not changing simply for the sake of changing what is working just fine for me now... Its part the cost, part the inconvenience, and very much the lack of good reason to consider it! computerworld/article/2598710/microsoft-windows/will-september-30-be-the-date-a-windows-revival-begins.html
