Notice any similarities? The stallion on the right is the sire of the mare on the left. So many (in my opinion more emotional than analytical) people say NO MORE BREEDING! They cite the thousands of unwanted throwaway horses, and say that instead of breeding more unwanted horses, people should save the ones that are available, and that it is irresponsible to create more horses when there are already more than can find homes. I`d say, in response, that if someone wants a horses as a pet, and not as a fellow athlete, with a job to perform, then take one nobody else wants, by all means. But if you want an athlete, you better understand that not all horses are created equal, and by careful, selective breeding, your chances of finding an athlete are hugely enhanced. The key words are careful and selective, not random or based on emotion. The reason we are seeing so many unwanted horses is either because they are lame and unusable, or they are hot/green/messed up and unusable. Sound, sane athletes are ALWAYS in demand. Unsound, unstable non athletes have almost no market. Not liking the truth of this makes it no less a truth. You don`t have to agree, just say it some other place.)
