Weather permitting, a solar powered aircraft, operated by Solar Impulse, will conduct an overnight flight from Dulles Airport in Washington, D.C. to JFK Airport, NYC this weekend. Part of this flight involves passing the Statue of Liberty for a photo shoot, accompanied by a helicopter. The aircraft is expected to arrive at the Statue of Liberty at about 11:45 PM on Saturday evening, July 6, 2013, take photos for approximately one hour, and then land at JFK Airport in Queens at 2:00 AM Sunday morning, July 7, 2013. The aircraft operates at a very slow speed of about 25 knots (29 mph). A photo of the aircraft is attached.
