Nov. 3 - I am thankful for my grandmothers, Grace (rejoicing in heaven) and Kathryn (rejoicing at Walmart). When my parents divorced in 1983, these two women stepped in to help fill a void in my life. Both were probably hurting in their own right. One, for a son who was now alone to live a life and raise a daughter. And the other, who watched a daughter walk away from one life to start another, no doubt reminding her of events that transpired in her own life. But here they were, helping me on weekends and summer weeks to try and stay as normal as possible. Despite what was going on between their children, these two women stayed friends throughout. Along with Kathryns twin sister, Mary (also rejoicing in heaven), they formed a geriatric Three Musketeers, and filled my life with a blend of humor and stress. Grace - I miss you, especially this time of year when family is so important to me. You blessed so many in your 100 years. Love ya. Kathryn - Granny, I cherish this roller coaster ride we are on together. I know when the ride stops, the hurt will be unbearable. I love you.
