November, 1959: Gil Hodges, first baseman for the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers, rakes leaves in front of his Brooklyn home. I want to wish everyone who participates in this page the happiest of New Years. The end of the year is usually a time for summing up and looking back, and those of us who care about Gil are naturally still disappointed about this months Hall of Fame vote. But I prefer to focus on the positives. Membership on this page more than doubled this year, and fans from all across the country came together to celebrate Gil and advocate for him. With people like Jim Mancari and Jack Olszewski, both born after Gils passing, sharing our passion for him, I feel increased confidence that he will always be appreciated and celebrated, regardless of what the folks in upstate New York decide to do. Thanks again, one and all, and Happy 2015!
