November, 2012, A holocaust of hundred of lives in Taitung City Animal Shelter in Taitung City, Taiwan. As usual volunteers visit Taitung City Animal Shelter, taking pictures of the stray dogs and cats. One day in November, 2012, they witnessed a horrible scene. Bodies of a dog and a cat were covered with flies. They apparently have died in their cages for quite a while, and no one in the shelter seemed to know, or care. Some volunteers regularly visit the Taitung City Animal Shelter, watching over the stray animals. During every visit, they found no water or food in the bowls. Every animal looks so skinny and ill, with no treatment and waiting for their doom hopelessly. Accommodation in the Shelter is abominable, excrement and urine everywhere, even hematuria. Volunteers found no food, water in the cages, nor any veterinarian in the Shelter. One of the volunteers posted the photos taken in the Shelter on the network. She was constantly under pressure from staff of the Shelter afterwards. Furthermore, in order to cover evidence, officials of the Shelter forged relevant documents and slaughter nearly one hundred of accommodated animals in two days. This horrible scenario was quickly exposed by two volunteers through internet. We will make improvements. This was the answer from the government officials when asked about the issue by the Animal Protection Volunteer, Mr. Tai-Shan Huang. When Mr. Huang re-visited the Shelter one week after the answer was given, he saw no improvement at all was made, even worse, he found 2 more dead canine bodies, and the other one was extremely starved and weak, which was immediately rushed to veterinarian. But, unfortunately, it was too late. This poor soul passed away in arms of volunteer. NT$ 570,000 (approx. US$ 20,000) are budgeted to this shelter annually for the food to feed the accommodated animals. Nevertheless, volunteers usually find no food in the bowls, and these creatures are so skinny and weak. NT$ 47,000 (approx. US$ 1,500 ) food budget per month is much more than enough to feed all of animal. Question is, WHERE IS THE MONEY? Where is the money that keep these dogs and cats alive? These horrible pictures of dogs and cats taken in the Shelter are widely spread on the internet, showing people the hellish scenario in this Shelter, which unbelievably is happening in Taiwan nowadays. The Taitung City Animal Shelter finally executed all the animals, covering all the tracks. In their tiny mind, these are nothing but pointless trash and creatures with no soul. Regulation reveals a 12-day adoption period before execution. The Taitung City Animal Shelter deliberately violated the regulation butchering all the animals. Empty cages seem to be too abnormal. Therefore, they rushed out hunting plenty of stray dogs and cats for the empty cages. Yet, while the volunteers sneaked in, they still found no food and water in cages, leaving animals waiting in silence and fear.
