You cannot say the Lords prayer, and even once say “I.” You cannot pray the Lords prayer, and even once say “my.” Nor can you pray the Lords prayer and not pray for another, For when you ask for daily bread, you must include your brother! For others are included in each and every plea From the beginning to the end of it, it does not once say “me.” ꕥ A man and his ever-nagging wife went on vacation to Jerusalem. While they were there, the wife passed away. The undertaker told the husband, “You can have her shipped home for$5,000, or you can bury her here, in the Holy Land, for $150. The man thought about it and told him he would just have her shipped home. The undertaker asked, “Why would you spend $5,000 to ship your wife home, when it would be wonderful to be buried here and you would only spend $150?” The man replied, “Long ago, a man died here, was buried here, and three days later he rose from the dead. I just cant take that chance.” CIRCUIT RIDER Liberty United Methodist Church 2040 Liberty Church Road Hephzibah, Georgia 30815 Rev. Jim Hyder VOLUME 20, NUMBER 11 NOVEMBER 2013 A highway patrolman had stopped a car for speeding and was writing a traffic violation ticket for the driver: “You know who I am,” the driver said. “I am the Chairman of the Board of the County Commissioners. Im late for a board meeting at the courthouse. You should let me continue because the meeting cannot start until I get there.” “I understand your problem,” the patrolman said, “and Im writing this ticket as fast as I can.” We all have our jobs to do.... It was Grandmas 75th birthday and the family decided to treat her to her first airplane flight so she could visit her sister across the country. Everyone tried to convince her to take the flight. “No, youll never get me up in an airplane,” she said. “Why dont all of you quit bothering me about flying? Flying is against human nature. Im going to stay right here on the ground and watch television like to good Lord intended!” The Lord and television? An Indianapolis teacher asked her class to name the three principal food groups and one youngster answered, “McDonald’s, Burger King and Wendys.” Education is so wonderful! Hope you enjoyed the change of pace of the newsletter article for the month from the preacher. A little nonsense from time to time is good for the soul. Grins are healthy for the face.
