Bullying of any sort is totally unacceptable at any time in Moyle School. Measures are in place to ensure that all children can learn and play in a safe, secure environment free from any form of bullying. Assemblies are used to reinforce this important message. To further highlight our anti-bullying charter we are taking part in poster competitions and other events in Anti- Bullying Week. Roots of Empathy – P5 Personal Development Programme Our P5’s are enjoying a personal development programme called ‘Roots of Empathy’ Thanks to Mrs N Johnston who takes the programme with both our P5’s. The programme involves children following the progress of a baby through the first year of life. Thanks to Debbie for bringing baby Will and to Craig for bringing baby Charlotte. They are both little stars. The programme also helps P5 children to talk about their feelings and to appreciate the feelings of others. We would like to thank Mrs N Johnston for leading the programme. Communication with parents in case of school closure for bad weather We make every effort to keep our school open for all school days during the year. On a very few occasions weather conditions are such that it is unsafe for children to come onto school grounds or insufficient staff are able to get to school because of dangerous road conditions. If it is necessary to close the school we send a message to BBC NI that is displayed on their Teletext pages. We also place information on the school website moyleprimary.co.uk and on the school Facebook page. Medication Needs of Children – Reminder As a result of fresh guidelines from the health boards, we now have a medication policy, a copy of which is available from school. The main differences to our current practice are the following: A nominated person within the school will administer prescribed medicines provided by a parent in the box with the doctor’s instructions and the child’s name. Parents will need to complete a consent form. Non-prescribed medicines cannot be administered by any member of staff. Parents of children with medical conditions must inform the school and a care plan will be drawn up by healthcare professionals.
