Now all my close friends know I was involved with a band in high school with my childhood friends called preacher. Although Im a professionally trained keyboard player myself. I actually never played on stage with the band but work the lights and help with the sound boards and setting up and things like that. We did submit an original tune to the old contest the radio station in Philly WMMR had called home grown. Of the hundreds of bands that submitted tapes. We made it to the top 10. But they were only taking eight bands to put on the album and come into the studio and professionally record the songs. We lost out on the last two cuts to a group called the Hooters from Philly. It still didnt stop us from having a lot of great fun playing in the area bars in South Jersey the shore and in Philly, including Rutgers University. But for us it was more like a dive bar tour. Something like this, in this video. Where we also played biker bars. Which this great scene from the movie Blues Brothers, which can give you an idea of what it can be like sometimes. But it was American rock and roll. We didnt care, we were having a lot of fun. Ill let my friends from preacher give their memories of those great days back in the late seventies an early eighties.
