Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Each doctor visit we hope for improvement. Antonios rare syndrome, ROHHAD spans many medical specialties. Every cardiologist, endocrinologist, pulmonologist, gastroenterologist, oncologist, etc. appointment comes with two decisions: We can either have faith and hope or have none. The odds and history of ROHHAD is against Antonio. And yes, he has a massive list of symptoms and medical complications.... But we still have hope! Today, although we knew the odds, we still went in hoping that Antonio would be set free from having to be at the doctors so much. It didnt happen ... But we still have faith that it will, one day. Antonio went through high dose chemo because of HOPE! There are NO doctors with all the answers to ROHHADs mysteries and just because ROHHAD is a life taker by current medical data, it doesnt mean we have to settle for that outcome and just wait for Antonio to get worse or pass away. Whenever we head to the doctors we hope that good news is all that awaits us. Antonios medical issues are complicated (and thats and understatement). Yes, its a huge sadness when we hear all is not okay or that more doctors visits are up ahead. Frankly, it sucks!!! Its something that we expect from him having ROHHAD. Its fatal, it steals a piece at a time... A little here, a little more there. We dont ignore the medical facts, we simply choose not to bind Antonios future to them. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for! The evidence of things not seen. And we hope for a cure... And if that cure is a miracle, we will gladly accept it! :) Tomorrow will be a brand new day.
