Now here is the R101, this picture is from a video clip and it is taken not long before the accident, she has been lengthened and just walked out of Shed 1, shortly after she was walked out of Shed 1 R100 was walked in to undergo a special work and also enlargement. She would have been attached to the mooring mast and made ready for her final 24 hour trial\shake down flight before heading off to India on her maiden proving voyage. The test flight was cut short, she was behaving herself and all boded well, in modern life this seems remarkable that they were taking her on such a major flight with only 1 test flight after such a major operation of enlargement but 80odd years ago the world was a different place.
