“Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.” Luke 11:1 Real prayer is not natural, it is supernatural, it is not a means of getting things for ourselves but rather how e get to know our Creator, our omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent God! When we are born again the Spirit of God indwells us and we can either nourish the spiritual part by prayer, Bible reading and Christian fellowship or we can starve it by neglecting those things and become spiritually unhealthy. Prayer is simply being yourself before God, presenting your problems before Him, the things that have you at wits end and then listening and waiting for the answer but if you are self-sufficient you do not need God and He there is no need for Him to answer. Prayer does not change things, it changes us so we can change things. God works within the laws He established physical and spiritual, there is cause and effect. He gives us common sense to make decisions and even tells us if we lack wisdom to ask for it (James 1:5). Pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17) and you will walk in the spirit (Galatians 5:16) and faith will guide you not sight (2 Corinthians 5:7) this will change you and your outlook which changes the outcome and it all starts with prayer.
