Now let me tell u about a fraud story that happened to a very close friend of mine about 25 years ago.. This man sells computer and computer product. Two impressively looking guys came to buy some computer equipment from him worth millions. banking system was not as computerised as today. The amount we are talking about is not what could be carried around when our highest currency was then =N=50 or so. To allay the fear of my friend, he said my friend should follow him to the bank to collect the draft since he didnt know the total amount he wanted to buy. On getting to the bank, he told my friend to sit down and he went to the counter to request for the draft. Then he came to sit down with my friend, waiting for the draft. When the draft was ready, he was called to come and pick it up, which he went to do in the presence of my friend and put it in the novel he carried with him. On getting into the car, he gave my friend the draft in excess of the invoiced amount, telling my friend he wd still come a week to buy more. My friend was happy. Very happy. The man went away with his goods. Well, the draft bounced and on enquiry, it was discovered that the man went to the bank to buy WAEC draft and exchanged it with already prepared fake draft in his possession. Can u beat that? Let somebody tell me what my friend did wrong? This was a time in Nigeria when Draft was sacrosanct. Even US Embassy no dey confirm draft then. Many people got their US Visas then with fake drafts that were supposed to be taken to American Universities. Na experience of others teach many people. This was a time no GSM. And if a draft was purchased in ur KOROKORO eyes, what is there to confirm? Lol
