Now that I have some time in my cramped, little seat on my flight - TopicsExpress

Now that I have some time in my cramped, little seat on my flight back to LA, I will tell you about one of the most beautiful concerts I have witnessed in a long time. My friend, Eduardo Delgado, gave a piano recital last Sunday. Well, lets say he WAS a piano recital last Sunday. It was an experiences that has deeply inspired me. What he gave us that afternoon, is what I strive to give as an artist every time I am onstage. Sometimes I forget. Sometimes I remember and find my way back to it. Eduardo became the piano. He BECAME Haydn. He BECAME Beethoven. He BECAME Schumann in all his sublime ferociousness and delicateness. He galloped with Ginastera and revolutionized us with Chopin Etudes. So often, one can get caught up in the details of this lifestyle which is more than we do, WHAT WE ARE. Sometimes I become too aware of the I have to do this I shouldnt do that and it takes an inspired artist to send a whiff, a reminder, of why we choose to share such an intimate act with an audience. When I teach masterclasses, I always tell the students to remember the WHY more than the HOW. Well, Eduardito, reminded ME of the WHY that day. And for that I thank him and love him...
