Now that it has been confirmed that Hon Aminu Bello Masari is the Candidate of the APC. We wish to congratulate him and wish him all the best in this forum. May we also use this medium to offer him the following advice 1. He should as a matter of urgency reach out to all candidates of the APC , including aggrieved ones and reconcile with them; the party leadership should support in this process. 2. He should also understand that ownership of the party structure does not translate into ownership of the APC as a party in the state, nor does it translate into victory for the party. As a result more work needs to be done if the party is to make any head way in the coming elections. 3. At this time he should realize the need for him to call a round table discussion with intellectuals, academicians, politicians and other stakeholders to deliberate on his past mistakes as a candidate of the APC and develop a clear action plan to ensure his victory. 4. He also needs to realize the need for him to reinvent himself in line with present trends in the country. Issues like Karaduwa needs not to be mentioned in his campaign. let us know who he is, what makes him different from other aspirants, what can he offer a state like Katsina, how will his Government cope with current challenges facing our dear state and indeed the whole northern Nigeria. 5. Also who will be his running mate is also very important. He should understand that a running mate is someone who will mask some of his deficiencies both as a person and as a politician. And in this direction, I suggest someone young, vibrant and relatively clean from a noble back ground. 6. We need to see a clear manifesto of what he wants to do for the state if elected. He should tell us his plans for health care, education, infrastructural development, poverty alleviation, employment generation etc. 7. I want to see Masari participate in debates and other interactions with opposition aspirants and citizens and give Katsina people a chance to gauge him and know his worth. Reliance on Buhari ya daga hannun shi may be a vital factor in a state like Kano, but I assure him it will not be that important in Katsina. 8. The way people view him as an elder, he should please remain as one. The issue of going round for campaign with thugs and other charlartans should be avoided. let us see a decent and well organized campaign machinery. This will make us believe that when he becomes Governor he will be different, and will engage the youths into some productive ventures. While wishing him the best, we await the primaries of the PDP to know who their flag bearer will be. Katsina people have always voted candidates rather than political parties.
