Now that summer school is over, and ball games are coming to an end...some parents MIGHT Be looking for things to do this summer. Dont be worried about trying to keep kids busy ALL of the time, because its good for them to be BORED sometimes too! Let them play outside, ride bikes, side walk chalk, go to the park, water fights, make mud pies, play with the neighbors, watch cartoons for the day, eat ice cream at home, just whatever. However, it IS also fun to check out some of the LOCAL things going on in town as well! So heres a list of things (Most are free or relatively cheap!) Tomorrow (June 29th at 5:30pm) North Park Baptist Church hosts their annual block party at the Riley Pavilion. (FREE) And followed up with a lovely fire works display at dark. July 4th at the Thompson Fair Grounds at Rothwell Park, games and rides on the mini train at the park (Not sure of the cost, train rides are usually $2 per ticket) 4pm-5:30 And fire works over the lake at dark. Some coming up: July 11th $1 Movie Night 7pm (The new Lego Movie) at the down town auditorium), July 7th and 21st Family Night at the pool (6-8pm admission is half priced) July 19th Nature Scavenger Hunt 10am-11:30pm at the Lodge by Riley Pavilion July 14th-19th is the Randolph CO Fair (Lots of fun and free things there!!) Aug. 2nd Chalk It Up chalk drawing event at Tannehill Park behind the post office. Aug. 8th $1 Movie Night at down town Auditorium 7pm (The Nut Job) Aug. 13th Back to school pool party at the local pool 12pm-7pm half price admission with donation of new school supplies. Aug. 24th Last Splash at the pool, 12-7pm half price admission Also the local library Little Dixie Regional Libraries offers fun things too! July 19th, Matinee of Frozen 1pm July 26th, Matinee of Lincoln 1pm And they offer STORY TIME at the library as well! Check some of the fun Vacation Bible Schools in town too! Dont forget the Macon Lake! Free swimming, and awesome picnic areas near the lake. Lowes in Moberly has their Build and Grow programs at 10am every other weekend, the next one is the 12th of July I think? Orscheln Farm & Home also has something they do for kids too! Dont forget the local bowling alley is open again Memory Lanes. And the local movie theater Moberly 5 Moberly Five & Drive will have its $7 car load nights again soon too. There is mini golf in Moberly too (and I believe batting cage and go carts??) Columbia has a nice bowling alley and laser tag too.
