Now that the World Cup it over, I would like to share a thought. - TopicsExpress

Now that the World Cup it over, I would like to share a thought. Over the past month, we would all have seen crazy supporters of other countries. Some support due to a good team, some support a country because their favourite player is playing and some plainly because the team has good looking chaps. We spent sleepless nights watching them and felt so upset over their losses. Some even refer to the foreign teams with a collective we won or we played well. Not sure how many were actually born in the respective countries or how many have played for that team but I suppose thats some interesting sense of belonging to a foreign nation. Now, how many have done the same for our own? When was the last time we cheered for our own Lions? Wasnt there a time you sniggered at Singapore losing to a foreign team? But we cry when a Brazil or Argentina loses. We cheer foreign shows and competitions. But we choose to diss our very own. What triggered this was the numerous mockery and complaints about another finals that took place last night. The winner, the finalists, the judges, the host, the guest artistes, the dancers- no one seems to be spared. And I know the hell lotta hardwork that goes into a show like this. But we would rather throw our money and applause on a 4-film old Anirudh show or an Inno Genga more than a Singapore performer who has been entertaining us for 10 or 20 or even 40 years of his life. Because that singer/host/actor/dancer/footballer/rapper/band/writer is LOCAL. We always complain that the system/government is partial to FTs and our locals are treated inferior. How different are you, my friend? :)
