Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; (1 Tim. 4:1) Seducing spirits, that bring forth false doctrines. This is LITERAL. There really are lying, seducing spirits, and God uses them to satisfy those who reject the truth in favor of lies and fantasy. Look how it happened in the days of Ahab: And the LORD said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramothgilead? And one said on this manner, and another said on that manner. And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will persuade him. And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so. (1 Kings 22:20-22) And it is happening now. The Spirit expressly (explicitly) said that it would. Here it is prophesied again: And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. (2 Thess. 2:8-12) The deception has begun, and will only get worse. God HIMSELF sends the lying spirits and delusion to deceive those who hate and reject truth. They cant receive the truth when they hear it--but they gladly welcome lies. We reap what we sow. God satisfies the hungry. Those who hunger for truth, receive truth. Those who hunger for lies, receive lies. These lies arent only happening amongst nonbelievers. They are happening also amongst those who want a Get Out of Hell Free card, but dont want to submit themselves to obey God. In other words, todays churches, which reject Gods authority over us, and which reject the need for repentance and obedience to the Scriptures, are the PRIMARY place where these demonic lies and false doctrines are being promoted. Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. (2 Tim. 3:5)
