Now therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm - TopicsExpress

Now therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same thought, he that hath suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin; For, in the time that you left in the flesh, ye shall live no more after the lusts of men, but to the will of God. Because it is enough that in time past of our life we did the will of the Gentiles, we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, carousing, drunkenness, and abominable idolatries; They think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you. Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the living and the dead. For this cause was the gospel preached also to the dead, that in fact they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit; And it is near the end of all things, therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. But above all things have fervent love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins. Being hospitable to one another without grumbling, Each administer to others the gift he has received, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If any man speak, speak as the oracles of God: if any man minister, according to the power that God gives: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory and power for ever and ever. Amen Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice in the fact that you may be partakers of the sufferings of Christ, so that at the revelation of His glory you may rejoice with joy. If the name of Christ are reviled, blessed are you, because rests upon you the Spirit of glory and of God, as to them, it is, yes, blasphemed, but as for you, is glorified. Let none of you suffer as a murderer, or thief, or evildoer, or as what busybody in other men; But if as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but let him glorify God on this behalf. Because it is time for judgment to begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and sinner appear? Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit their souls to him, as to a faithful Creator doing good. 1 Peter 4:1-19
