Now they bother me. Why am I not in politics? Of course they mean why am I not aspiring for political office? Are they sincere? Must we all run for public office? In 1981, I covered President Shagari and in London on a State visit, I worked out of Visnews London, using BBC crews. My coordinator was a 60 year old producer called Leslie Robertson, and all he ever wanted was to be a producer. I liked that. I had been a Radio Producer from secondary and still find nothing more exciting than my media work. I can passionately promote an idea or a personality, but I could not picture myself being the political product. I wish Nigerians went into politics in order to give off their vision to humanity, and many do. The idea that every one sees political office as THE ACHIEVEMENT rather than what stand as monuments of compassion for the people and realised dreams, irks me. There is so much change that can come about from little effort and little resource, yet we waste all opportunity - in this day and age!
