Number 13 in Freemasonry and Occult? Samsara asked 3 years ago Why is number Thirteen 13 so important in Freemasonry and in the Occult generally? I want to know why the exact number is important, not about the 13 degrees and stuff I already know. Any links would be good to share! PEACE!! :D Additional Details @yep I play WoW You are right about the 33 degrees and I was wrong at that part. But 13 is an important Occult number and I want to know why. 13 colonies, 13 Royal Families, Jesus and his Apostles were 12+1 13. Its an important number in the Occult but I referred to the Freemasons because it is known, they posses Occult knowledge! 3 years ago Answer Following (1) Watchlist Best AnswerAskers Choice Cognostic answered 3 years ago 13 was a number central to certain traditions of sacred geometry, because it reflected a pattern which could be seen to exist in man, nature, and the heavens. For instance, there are 13 major joints in your body. There are 13 lunar cycles in a solar year, and the moon travels 13 degrees across the sky every day. Six circles placed around a seventh central circle is a model of geometric efficiency and perfection in the second dimension that has been known to mathematicians for ages. But this same configuration in three dimensions consists of 12 spheres arranged around one central sphere, making 13 in all - the most compact three-dimensional arrangement recurrent in nature. A commentator writing about the Aztec calendar once said that, Thirteen is a basic structural unit in nature. It means the attracting center around which elements focus and collect. Is this, then, the reason for Christ’s 12 disciples, King Arthur’s 12 knights, or the 12 major constellations in relation to our sun? The likelihood seems great indeed. thevesselofgod/thirteen.h... There are 12 points to the Star of David and the center makes 13, . Starting with the 13 colonies, the first national flag had 13 stars, and even today it still has 13 stripes. On the green side of the dollar bill there are 13 steps in the pyramid of the Great Seal. The motto above the pyramid, which reads “Annuit Coeptis,” has 13 letters; the eagle on the right side has a ribbon in its beak that bears the motto “E pluribus unum,” which contains 13 letters. The eagle has 13 tail feathers, and on its breast there is a shield of 13 stripes. In one talon the eagle holds 13 arrows, and in the other an olive branch with 13 leaves and 13 berries. Over the eagle’s head are 13 stars that form the six-pointed “Star of David.” The phrase “July the Fourth” contains 13 letters and the number 4 (1+3), the birth number of the U.S. (July 4, 1776), which leads us to the real reason why the “founding fathers” chose this date as the official birth date of the United States: daysofevil.blogspot/2009/03/t... on July 4th the longitude of the Sun is 12° Cancer in the Heavens, and on this date the Sun conjoins the great star Sirius, whose longitude is 13° Cancer. Sirius is a first-magnitude star that is 40 times brighter than the Sun, and is the star that rules all African people. It was venerated in ancient Egypt from time immemorial, and was held in great reverence by the ancient Egyptians because it rose heliacally with the Sun at dawn during the inundation of the Nile River, the lifeline of ancient Egypt. Source(s): ive studied freemasonry in high school Rate Comment Rick G answered 3 years ago It goes back to the Babylonians. While today we know of the 12 Zodiac signs, it used to be 13. So that was the original link to 13. It also blows the current astrology systems off the map, because of the rejection of that 13th sign or region in the sky, their systems are so totally off, they have no meaning. Oh, wait, I forgot they had NO meaning when all 13 were used by the Babylonians!!! Rate Comment Drakulaz answered 3 years ago Forget 33 or 13, 19.5 is where the real **** happens. Rate Comment Slap Happy answered 3 years ago To understand mystic numbers you need to understand the limits of ancient math systems. Today we recognize 13 as a prime number. 2,000 years ago they had no way classify a prime number, they had no way to deal with zero either. The decimal system hadnt been invented yet so they couldnt just calculate out a string of decimals as an answer either. So you find 7, 11, and 13 represented a great mystery to them. Not only were these numbers awkward to calculate, they had no way to deal with them geometrically. There is no compass and straight edge constructions for them No 7 sided, no 11 sided, or 13 sided shape that you can draw with a compass.
