Nurses gossip about me, call me crazy.. Overprotective and rude.. I call it keeping my son alive and protecting our bond. I leave to go have a day date with Michael and I come back to a stranger holding my baby, of course Im going off! I call in the nurse, nurse supervisor and charge nurse to question them about why this stranger was holding my baby. The nurse said well I let her hold him because he was fussy. Ive told every nurse that has ever worked with Austin.. If I am ever not here (which is rare).. & Austin is needing attention/love/emotional care, CALL ME! I leave my number all over his room! I am a stay at nicu mom for this very reason! I leave only to spend time with my hubby, but Michael would be very understanding if we had to cancel a date because Michael doesnt want strangers holding Austin either. When Austin is born I didnt see him for TWO DAYS! I have had to share Austin with the whole hospital staff for 5 months! All I ask is that if my son is in need of emotional love (the only thing that I can give him really) and for some reason Im not there (which is hardly EVER) CALL ME!!! Only a selective number of nurses respect my wishes as a mother.. I am not sure why the others dont: maybe its my youth, my social economic status, the fact that I am on medicaid- I dont know!. I know most NICU babies parents are not involved in their babys care.. Austin is not one of those babies. His parents have been fighting for his life since March 13, 2014- the first time I almost went into premature labor! Have some respect for my wishes! -end rant. I am ready to go home.
