Nurses have always had a special place in my heart and soul for - TopicsExpress

Nurses have always had a special place in my heart and soul for many reasons: My mother was a nurse and I remember meeting her in the cafeteria at Fulton Hospital for breakfast after she worked the night shift and I had finished delivering my paper route; My Aunt Mary was a nurse in World War 11 and told me about the injuries she saw to the Japanese people after arriving with the occupation forces in Nagasaki (a side note is that 50 years later she felt, as I do, we had no choice but to drop the bomb, which proved to end the war and avoid so much more death): My devilish and adventuristic sister Patty is a nurse, and such a lovely, passionate woman, whose love of laughter knows no limits. My daughter, Lexie, is a young nurse, with a couple years under her belt in the roles of nurse and mother, both of which have helped her grow into a lovely mature woman at a still young age; My nieces, Caitlin and Carrie, are nurses in the caring tradition of their Grandmother and Aunt Mary, but Carrie is more of the hell raising school from which I and Patty graduated from, while Caitlin is an adventurer; In my college years, while in the service of Our Lord, I attended classes with the girls from St. Joes, where both my mom and Aunt Mary attended, and my Aunt still taught then, to which the St. Joes girls said I cant believe you are Ms. Blakes nephew; I got to know many nurses while visiting the hospitals and extended care facilities and they all impressed me: Later while at USAA, I met many of nurses, some of whom I became good friends with and still keep in contact; Last but not least, I had many high school classmates who became nurses like Caren Cuppernull Lanigan, Joe Tetro, one of my lifetime best pals, and the Nurses Fitzgerald (with Carol being a real nurse and Fitz just dying to don that little while cap, which is no longer worn, except by he). Why are nurses so special?; they are, by definition, very smart, well rounded passionate and caring women and my experience has also been that they are all beautiful. Im almost tempted to use my Uncle Georges tactic of going to the emergency room to complain of war related injuries in hopes of finding a lovely caring nurse, or Nowrse as he used to say. Where would we be without the nurses of the world? Heres to them!
