Nutritional Importance in Bodybuilding... What you eat and drink is the most important thing in bodybuilding and in body shaping. Diets do not work. Why? Because diets are temporary and people usually go back to their old eating habits after the diet and most often gain back even more. What is required is a change in ones eating habits day in and day out - A lifestyle change. Good nutritious food can be used to bulk and good nutritious food can be used to cut. The only difference will be in the quantity utilized. Notice that I did not mention anything about supplements. Most guys when they start out are mainly concerned with the weight on the scale. They want to be above 200lbs, then 220lbs, 240lbs etc. I know this because I was one of them. The real emphasis should be on body fat composition and trying to maintain a healthy bodyfat percentage. When one places the emphasis on a lower healthy bodyfat percentage more definition will be the outcome. One can then work the muscle more efficiently because one can see the stretch and full contraction more clearly and begin to shape the body over time. This need to be heavy allows one to eat all sorts of food including a lot of empty calorie junk food, processed food, bad fatty food etc. One must learn to let go of the number on the scale.
