Ny* MACC **Staff and Vol fave** LOLA had been dumped on the street after giving birth - thin and starving, yet she earned an AVERAGE rating... A vol says: Looking at a dog like Lola means having your heart shatter into a million little pieces. Found as a stray, she is too thin with a patchy coat but the real story of sadness is revealed when you peer at her undercarriage and see her so engorged with milk that she could have given birth just days before. Lola is such a sweet and endearing dog that she has already wiggled her way into the hearts of staff and volunteers alike and when walking her through the care center she is a bit of a celebrity. A senior staff member told me “now that is a good dog” and indeed he is right. Lola is a good dog and she is happy to be invited for a walk so that she can relieve herself outside and stretch her legs. She knows to sit politely for treats and loves my offering of roast beef which I toss into her mouth as she is very thin and hungry and eager to eat. Lola did very well on her SAFER- earning an average rating and even a 1 on her dog to dog. Out on the street Lola pulls strongly towards other dogs and vocalizes out of frustration but when off leash in the yard she is much more relaxed and polite to those passing our pen. She will need time to relax and recover from her pregnancy and some good nutrition to make her beautiful red coat shine. Lola is sweetheart, a lover girl, a lap dog and a snuggler. She needs someone to open their heart and their arms to her and give her the life she deserves to have.
