O.M.G. Interviews with the people participating in the prisoner - TopicsExpress

O.M.G. Interviews with the people participating in the prisoner exchange negotiations (the National Security Agency being one), bringing the truth to light, will make a joke out of what FOX and MSNBCs Chris Matthews have been hysterically reporting for the past few days. The negotiations have been underway for more than two years - with the full knowledge of congress. Full. Knowledge. Some have even been involved in periodic updates and responded to them .. *positively.* All on record. The five taliban exchanged will be monitored - by American sources - for a full year and are not allowed to participate in any operations of battles, war or aggressive actions. Part of the deal. Republican congresspeople who now condemn this situation knew about it and *approved* this *exact* exchange. Including Senator John McCain.- who said so in a video interview at the time a couple years ago. McCain himself was liberated from the Vietnam war after a ..... (WAIT FOR IT..) negotiated prisoner exchange. People who have been named as not favoring the initial terms of the exchange a couple years ago *changed their minds* as the terms (such as no activities by the taliban released with appropriate monitoring to make sure that happens) changed. They all agreed on these new terms, which were hard fought because the taliban walked away from the negotiations at one point, which held them up. But they came around to agree on the terms the US wanted and still look good by bringing the men home. Prisoner exchanges have been going on for all nations - including the American government and military since the Revolutionary War. Abraham Lincoln was condemned for exchanging too many confederate soldiers for union soldiers. Many northerners believed more confederate soldiers should have been held and tried for war crimes instead of freed. The list goes on and on. As the facts come out, those with their knickers in a twist will find that they jumped to conclusions based on incorrect information, on misinformation deliberately disseminated by the far right and folks intent on creating a scandal for the Obama administration - insisting the taliban has essentially fooled specifically Obama and his administration. Not. at. all. All the facts are at last starting to come out - and they will pour out more and more swiftly over the next few weeks. More will be known about Bowes specific situation and how he came to be held by the taliban and whatever the situation, it will be attended to. As well as the conduct of other soldiers in his unit. The truth will out, here, over the next several weeks. Turns out, as usual, career Marine, former Senator and VA chief Jim Webb was absolutely right. And at this point, I am convinced Obama, the administration, and the military are on solid ground. And they acted in unison. Have to admit, I was a little concerned as I listened to folks who, as it turns out (Chris Matthews) did not have the facts and did not know what they were talking- no, screaming - about.
