O you who believe,! when the call is made for prayer on Friday, then proceed to the remembrance of Allah and leave off trading; that is better for you, if you know.(Qur’an 62:9) The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: “We are the last but the foremost on the Day of Resurrection, though the former nations were given the Scripture before us. And this was their day (Friday) the celebration of which (i.e. Friday prayer etc.) was made compulsory for them, but they differed about it. So, Allah gave us the guidance for it (Friday) and all the other people are behind us in this respect: the Jews’ (holy day is) the following day (Saturday) and the Christians’ (is) the day after the following day (Sunday). (Bukhari) The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: Friday is the best of days. It was on this day that Hadrat Adam (peace be upon him) was created, it was on this day that he was granted entry into Paradise, it was on this day that he was removed from Paradise (which became the cause for mans existence in this universe, and which is a great blessing), and the day of resurrection will also take place on this day. (Sahih Muslim & Sunan Abu Dawud) The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: There is such an hour on Friday that if any Muslim makes dua in it, his dua will definitely be accepted.
