OBITUARY Janet M. Hamlett, NSA intelligence analyst Janet M. Hamlett, a retired National Security Agency analyst and active church member, died Tuesday of cancer at Northwest Hospital. She was 63. The daughter of Olion Craig, a Bethlehem Steel Corp. steelworker, and Allie Mae Craig, a homemaker, the former Janet Maria Craig was born in Baltimore and raised in Turners Station. After graduating from Dundalk High School in 1968, Ms. Hamlett went to work as an NSA intelligence analyst at Fort Meade, where she also worked as a cryptologist. She retired in 2005. Ms. Hamlett was a lifelong active member of Greater St. John Baptist Church in Turners Station, where she had been a member of the hospitality committee, a supporter of the churchs youth ministry and a member of the trustee board. Janet was one of Gods most committed servants and she held that commitment of faith until her death, the Rev. Glenn Darby, pastor of Greater St. John Baptist Church, said. This is what she exemplified. The longtime resident of Downey Dale Drive in Randallstown was married for 28 years to David Hamlett, an officer with the U.S. Capitol Police who died in 2006. Funeral services for Ms. Hamlett will be held at 11 a.m. today at her church, 209 Walnut Ave. She is survived by a brother, James E. Craig of Baltimore; five sisters, Evelyn Thomas of Forest Hill, Virginia Bowser, Helen Brown, Juanita Moody and Ruby Shaw, all of Baltimore; and many nieces and nephews.
