OCTOBER 27 DAILY MIGHT Sometimes we limit God by our little faith. Because God loves us, He tries to be as good to us as possible. As long as we’re doing our best to do what’s right and what we’re asking Him for is good for us, He will give it to us. “No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly” (Psalm 84:11). But sometimes, the Bible tells us, we have not because we ask not (James 4:2). So if you really need something, pray it in. Just be careful what you ask God to do for you, because He’ll often take you literally; He will take you exactly at your word. The story is told of a man who prayed, “Lord, I need a car. I’m desperate for a car! Please give me a car—any old car!“—And that’s exactly what he got, a real clunker! So the next time he needed a car he prayed for a good one, and he got it! God is very definite, so be definite with Him. He’ll give you what you ask for and what you have the faith for (Matthew 7:7-8; 9:29). God will give you what you have faith for, and you should have faith for what you need. If the need is there, the answer must be there too, so look around and pray it in. October 27 DAILY PRAISE Jesus, when I’m with You I feel so young, so alive, so vibrant and so happy. Thank You for giving me the wonderful gift of Your Spirit. I might not have a great education and a lot of material things; I don’t have any seemingly important career or a big position in society, or a famous name, but I know I have greater blessings and greater riches than most people. I wouldn’t trade You and Your special love for me for anything in the world. It makes me so happy to know that no matter what may happen in the days to come, no matter what hardships or difficulties arise, I’ll always have You. Thank You, Jesus! October 27 WORDS FROM JESUS How to be happy when times are tough When money is scarce, your faith in My ability to supply for you is often tested. Voices of discouragement tell you that My promises aren’t true, that I won’t supply for you as I said I would. But don’t succumb to those doubts, because in the end I will come through for you if you do your best to follow what I have said. Sometimes I answer immediately, but other times it takes awhile. Many factors affect My ability to answer your prayers and provide for you, including the choices that you and others make, so don’t become discouraged or impatient or think I don’t care or won’t supply. Sometimes you and I both have to wait till all the conditions are right. In the meantime, count your blessings. Thank Me for those things I’ve already given you, things that are to be treasured above material comforts, things that money can’t buy: the love of those dearest to you, true friendships, peace of heart and mind, and the fulfillment and satisfaction that comes from knowing and loving Me. Value those things above all, and you’ll have the key to happiness and My spiritual blessings, no matter what your material circumstances may be.
