**OFFICIAL** Fort Knox will pay tribute to the first responders, service members and civilians who lost their lives in terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001 during a Patriot Day ceremony at 8:15 a.m. Sept. 11 at Fire Station No. 1 here. The event will also feature patriotic performances by Fort Knox’s 113th Army Band, a ceremonial tolling of the fire station’s bell and a wreath laying. The ceremony will close with a 21-gun salute and the playing of taps. Fire Station No. 1 is also the location of the post’s only 9/11 memorial monument - a piece of steel I-beam from the World Trade Center set in granite. In the event of inclement weather, Fort Knox’s 9/11 tribute will occur in Waybur Theater at 8:15 a.m. Inclement weather announcements can be found online at knox.army.mil or by calling (502) 624-KNOX (5669). The following roads will be shutdown in support of the Patriot Day Ceremony tomorrow morning. Please ensure that you notify all employees/Soldiers that utilize these routes during the work day to avoid these areas and plan to utilize a different route. 11 Sept 14 5-9:30 a.m. Old Ironsides between 6th and 8th Ave Spearhead Div Ave between F Street and 13th Cav.
