OFFICIAL OPENING OF DRIFFIELD CREDIT UNION BRANCH The Driffield Branch of Hull and East Yorkshire Credit Union (HEYCU) will be officially opened in its new location in the town centre on Wednesday 24 July 2013 at 10.00 am. The Mayor of Driffield, Councillor Heather Venter, will conduct the official opening at the Town Council Offices, 2-4 Market Walk, in the presence of the President of HEYCU, Mr Brian Navier, Credit Union directors and local committee members. Mr Edwin King, a locally-elected director of the credit union, is hoping that lots of local organisations will be represented at the opening: "It will be a chance for them to meet our branch volunteers and learn more about the work of the credit union helping people to make the most of their money and providing a fairer alternative in financial services," he said. Light refreshments will be provided. Anyone wishing to attend should email [email protected] or phone 01482 778753 to reserve a place. HEYCU has around 700 members in the Driffield area, including about 200 children who save up with its First Saver clubs in half a dozen local primary schools. The Credit Union provides savings accounts, affordable credit, bank accounts and lots of other services on a not for profit basis. Its loans carry a low interest rate which is capped by law, unlike other lenders. Any surplus is given back to members as a dividend at Christmas. The Market Walk branch opens every Wednesday from 11 am to 1 pm and every Thursday from 10 am to 12 noon.
